Two new Avengers movies, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, were announced in July 2022 as the end of the MCU’s Phase Six and “The Multiverse Saga.” Destin Daniel Cretton was chosen to direct The Kang Dynasty, and Jonathan Majors was set to return as the villain Kang the Conqueror. Jeff Loveness was brought on as a writer that September. In November 2023, Cretton left the project, Waldron took over as writer from Loveness, and Marvel considered moving away from the Kang storyline, partly due to Majors’s legal issues; he was let go the following month. The return of the Russo brothers as directors and McFeely as writer, along with Downey’s casting as the new villain Doctor Doom and the new title Doomsday, were announced in July 2024. Filming started in April 2025 at Pinewood Studios in England, featuring a large cast mainly made up of actors from previous MCU projects and other Marvel films.
